The Story of a Ghost Story

Chapter 359

It’s still reading… reading something…

“Choi ” arrived at the same spot where Priest Kim had died.”

Choi turns around. “Ah, fellow, just because you can speak and think like a human, doesn’t mean you have to act like one. You are a goblin after all.”

He was in no condition to debate. Priest Kim, you think you’re so strong. You were a great priest. Now, you can’t take a handful of salt with you.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

“ induk, membaca buku itu adalah suatu hal yang menakutkan. Walaupun tulisannya tidak terbaca, tapi ada kegelapan yang menunggu di balik halaman-halamannya.”

The love for the nameless, mystic otherworld, still lingers within me.

“Ini buku yang aneh, tapi bukan seperti alkitab yang bisa mengubah orang menjadi iblis, atau….”

Choi looks at Zhang, who is still kneeling.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

an army of automation.”

Kim Soleum...

Kim Soleum felt a cold shiver trace down his spine, a chill that had nothing to do with the surroundings. It was a sense of dread, a feeling that something was deeply, fundamentally wrong with his world.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

“He is different.”

But Kim Soleum got the sense that he was seeing something—a challenge, a threat—beyond the shadows of the otherworld.

Choi continued walking, his steps unhurried, his gaze fixed ahead as if he were not listening. He had a habit of doing that—walking and not looking at the person he was speaking to.

“There is a different kind of resistance, a different path to follow. It is not about power, not about strength. It is about something far more subtle. It’s about the small moments and the bigger picture. It’s about how you react to what you see and hear, how you process it, and how you respond to it.”‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

“I understand that these people are smart and kind, but also on the edge, ready to snap.”

“Understand that this is just part of the larger world, but it is the one that I have chosen, so it is the one that I must stand by.”

Choi turns around and looks at Zhang. Zhang is still kneeling.

“What do you want?”

Wijah e'i wijah e'i enkuru ga zakayip hirigeubu someruka bua-teu ni— allat hotelp peurigibeu winiwi-keu zaiche-ruleuge.

Zhang, in a state of horror, began to chant.

It is not a murder, it is a sacrifice, it is a matter of survival.

But there is something more terrifying than a man who is willing to sacrifice. That is a man who knows how to do it.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

“The whole system? That seems a bit excessive.…

A chill went through Kim Soleum’s body. It had been some time since he heard about the world of man—the world of humans.

“You’re not correct.”

“Hakutaku’s race is different from the one that knows the truth about the end.”‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

“Yes, I am the one who knows the truth. And she is always better than the truth.”

Kim, the boy, looked at the door and saw something remarkable. That something was the move he had made the moment before he walked out into the shadows.

The voice was calm, not a hint of change.

It was coming from something that had no voice. That was the moment he saw him—the man on the floor.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

“I have the whole world to save, and you ask me to save you.”

Choi nodded. “痛苦的 ngu taka karu.”

He lifted his hand, and down came the hammer once.

After a few moments, the boy’s head was bleeding from a blow that had been applied with more force than he had ever known.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

“Ok, the system is a little bit more complicated than I thought,”

“Hm... that is not the way it is meant to be.”

“It’s a price I have to pay.”

He had to hold this line, or else everything was for nothing.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

What was it he said? And the rest comes forth—it sounded like a statement of fact.

But there was a mistake. The words had been whispered in the sky.

“I am not the one you are looking for.”

Time had passed rapidly, and it was time to face the results.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

The door crashed shut, sealing one destiny and unleashing another. Kim stands in a dark room, almost like a tower, except the tower itself was the room. The floor had fallen out, but he found the way to the bottom because it was just one layer before his destination.

He was now just below ground level.

It was not the door of something that opened, but the door of a machine. He was not used to this.

“I have been here before.”

These were doors, but they were not doors. The only exit was down. It was not the exit of a room, but the exit of a tower—perhaps it was lower ground level.

Any type of door was either upward, downward, or sideward. And already, he had been at the same level for a long time.

Kim looked around, and it was only darkness.

This world was full of traps.

There was a door that would not unlock.

The door was at the bottom of the tower, and the stairs led up. In the tower, his head would be touching the ceiling.

So he had to not leave, no he had to not try.

Even when he was no longer able to put a single thought in his mouth, the last thought that was left with him was this.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

He was at least not dead. The tower, though scary, kept the memory, he knew why.

He had come back for one last memory. That one was the one he was ill-fated to recall.

They were looking for something that was not there.

He was seeing the door locked and knew he was in trouble. He was trying not to panic, but he was shaking.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

Despite it being a very painful memory, he needed to do what he was here to do, which was to retrieve what was left of the Hunter's time.

“”Tidak ada satu benda pun””

Kim Soleum stood there.

He understood the situation. What he needed was a moment to remember what happened.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

Looking at the gate, he knew what he had to do. He looked at the only exit, the gate.

He looked at the gate, and then closed his eyes and prayed.

“I am not the one you are looking for,” he said to himself.
